A colour I take in my hand. A thick, consistent substance that allows me to show what I feel, which is that colour is not merely a visual and mental substance but a consistent, bodily substance that occupies a physical space. Only in winter do I stratify a single colour on a small panel every day. Every layer completely covers the underlying one, but when it is finished all the passages will be visible laterally. The size of the work (22 x 18 cm) is determined by the amount of material I can fit in my fist and mix all together. And in some cases my “Stratification”, sectioned and used like a fragment of paint, begins to relate to other materials and spaces.
