CIRCUMSCRIBING THE SPACE OF PAINTING

Over time, the ‘right’ space was slowly defined; the space which carries within it the practice of painting.

The body’s movement measured the space in relation to the substance colour and to the surface of the painting. It was projected as an extension, determining a place starting from its own proportions. It drew a perimeter; it cut a made-to-measure dress; it defined where to stay.

In 2020 when the “Gestureplace” was formed, the “Floor Imprint” was placed on a platform made of pieces of wood and steel like the ones used for the acqua alta floods. A pedestal to accommodate the painterly gesture on a daily basis.
