“… the rule of art adheres so closely to the object that it is impossible to subsume anything... The rule is not preconceived but appears only together with the object…”
(from Hannah Arendt’s Notebook XXII, 34)

“Is it really right for me to publish such comments about my works? Is it not perhaps an abuse of power? Won’t it bore?”
(from Witold Gombrowicz’s diary, 1954)

This piece was conceived as a caption to go alongside a work whenever it was exhibited or reproduced.
I wrote the first version; the second version was revised and shortened by the archive committee to make it more easily applicable.

First version:
Each work exhibited in this space is part of a broader project. What you see was conceived, generated and catalogued in my studio and is the fragment of an entire work which is recomposed within a single organic body: the archive.
To have a total perception of it, go to my site ‘An archive of time’

Second version:
Each work exhibited in this space is both an individual and complete work, as well as part of the artist’s archive-work. An archive of time www.mariamorganti.it
