Publication
Books have always been fundamental to me, maybe because I was born amongst thousands of them. The house I grew up in was covered in bookcases that contained my parents’ library and as soon as I started to build my own home, I started to devote half of the available surface space to books (obviously leaving the other half to painting and to storing my paintings).
Consequently, the book form has become something I have given great importance to as an artist; from the first experiments at the age of fifteen with handmade books in a single copy to the artist’s books with print runs printed by various publishers. From artist’s books to monographs, from theoretical books to catalogues, I have thought about publications as worlds where I can make my thoughts emerge, as spaces where the fundamental questions of my process can be brought up, and as places to share with others, where different languages flow in empathetic relation and where importance is given to the interpretation that others have given to what I do.
