Introduction

CONTINUE TRAVELLING

YOU NEVER STOP, EVEN WHEN YOU LEAVE

“Then I would travel, without any great pause, from here via Bologna, Verona, Ala, Innsbruck and Munich to our celebration, and lay down my love, richer in memories and yearning and loneliness, before you.”
(From "Florentine Diary", Rainer Maria Rilke, 1896)

I have been tempted to write a travel book many times. But about a journey dictated only by my imagination, with entirely imaginary adventures, encounters, places, problems, impressions and conversations.
(From Enrico Emanuelli’s diary, December 1942)

You keep going. The contact with the thread that maintains a discourse never stops for any reason.

The daily action of leaving a trace through colour never stops, even when I leave my studio.
You enter a different dimension. The measure, rhythm and duration change. You create a relationship with the outside, the encounter with the external opens. You return renewed.
