Conveyor crack

subtitle

Filling a crack with a pictorial gesture

Work description and interpretation
I stratified a Plasticine painting on a wooden surface in my studio over a few months. I then sectioned it into lots of small strips which I used to squeeze myself into a crack. The crack shows the stratification of the painting. The painting is the element that seals the wound. This work was commissioned by Maria Cagnoli for Carlo Scarpa’s Casa Scatturin.
Series description and interpretation
Stratifications
A substance that I can take in my hand, that allows me to feel the material nature of the colour. The dimension of the work is determined by the quantity of substance that can be held in one’s fist. I can work with it all together. Every day a colour. Every layer completely covers the underlying one, but when it is finished all the passages will be visible laterally.
